Start a Support Group

Joining a Group FAQs

How to Start a Group

To start a group you simply decide on a name and enter that into the form. Next, choose a password that will be easy to recall. Finally, decide if you will participate as a dieter who gives and receives support, or as someone who only provide support to others. Once you submit the form your group is ready. You can start inviting others.  That's all there is to it.

What is a Support Group?

Just as the name implies, a support group provides support to the group's members. Members typically come from the same organization.  Most will be active dieters, some may have already achieved their goal and simply want to help others. Some may have special training and started or joined the group to offer their assistance.

Group members are dieters and or staff members who understand that simply following the progress of the other group members, leaving an occasional comment, or holding a member accountable when they fail to enter their weight can improve the chances of each members success.  When a dieter joins a group, he or she becomes a supporter of all the dieters in the group while the other members in turn, support the new group member.

Belonging to a group allows each dieter to stay motivated to give their best effort.  Members of a group know that their progress, even when it becomes difficult at times, can inspire the other members.  Belonging and contributing to a group will increase a dieters chances of achieving remarkable results and makes his or her journey much more enjoyable and rewarding.

How Many Groups Can I Start or Join?

You can start and join as many groups as you like.

What Are The Benefits?

Some members may have more experience than others and be in a better position to lend support. If you are on the program, this can be helpful. If you have the experience, you can help others. As you gain more and more experience with the program, your knowledge, skill, and insights will become more valuable to the entire group.

What Are My Responsibilities?

A group member’s primary responsibility is to be interested in the success of the other members. Check on their progress and leave comments from time to time.

Congratulate members who reach a milestone, encourage those not making progress or making it more slowly. If someone stops logging in, contact them by phone or send them an email to say you were concerned and hope they have not given up. You may be the one who gets them back on track!
